## Card

Two families on the Yorkshire moors are bound together across two generations by a foundling's love and his long grudge.
The story comes secondhand, through a housekeeper and a lodger, and somehow the wildness feels closer for being retold.
For a night of wind across open ground.

## About this book

A gentleman renting a house on the moors hears from the housekeeper about the people who lived there before him. Her story centers on Heathcliff, a boy brought home from the streets of Liverpool, and Catherine Earnshaw, the daughter of the house who grows up beside him. Their bond is fierce and unruly, and slights suffered in youth harden into grievances that reach into the next generation. The bleak landscape seems to carry their feeling.
