## Card

Seven generations of one family love, quarrel and repeat themselves in a Colombian town their ancestors carved out of the swamps.
Wonders are told in the same calm tone as daily chores, and the long, flowing sentences carry decades in a page.
For a night of rain that seems endless.

## About this book

José Arcadio Buendía and his wife Úrsula leave their village and found Macondo, a place at first so new that many things have no names. Their children and grandchildren inherit the family names along with the family habits of obsession, passion and solitude. Gypsies bring magnets and ice, wars come and go, a banana company arrives, and the town changes around the family house. It reads like a family legend told by someone who remembers everything.
